Are you connected with Johnson County Animal Control?

We are not a government entity. Therefore, we are not a part of Johnson County Animal Control. However, we do work with their shelter to provide pets with temporary homes through our foster program: Shelter Without Walls. Please remember, HSJC does not work directly with Animal Control.

What services does HSJC provide to the community?

Aside from the assistance to animal control, we offer a low-cost spay/neuter program, emergency pet medical assistance to residents of the county, a pet food pantry for low-income families, a free vaccination clinic, educational programs for local schools and adult groups, and our mobile Whiskers on Wheels unit.

How does HJSC obtain its operating funds?

Funds are obtained through donations, sponsorships, bequests, and special fundraising activities. HSJC does not receive any funds from the federal, state, county or city government.
